I just wanted to take a moment and rant to all my fellow crafters. I live in the Rocky Mountains of Canada. And of course this year we got early snow! And sadly the forecast is just calling for more and more of it between now and Halloween! I already finished my son's costume of a dino. Now I'm onto my daughter's bird costume. Of course this snow has really thrown a wrench into my plans! I am now having to make sure the costumes can be worn over their snow suits for actual Halloween and without the snow suit for school and parties! UGHS!

makes me really hate the snow right now! Why couldn't it wait till Nov 1st to come down? Why oh why!

Thankfully I'm doing a semi easy A line dress for my daughter's costume. I just had to chop it apart to add 6 more inches to fit over her darn poofy jacket! And I still have to figure out how to make it look cute and not to giant for school, dance, and the party that is happening before that! (thinking of cinching it in on the sides maybe?)

ok. that's my rant to snow and halloween costume making!

Daaaaaang, we had some snow in northern Ontario but it's all gone now. But yeah, I was gonna suggest putting a drawstring on the inside waist of each costume so that it's not on the outside. They're "unsafe" after all. You might want to make sure your son can pee by himself despite the drawstring.

*pat pat pat* I'm sure you'll figure something out.

That whole snow on Halloween is a pain, living in northern Alberta I think I can only remember a couple of occasions without.  My kids are long past trick or treating age, but when they were little we always went for the fantastical makeup/headgear job with an inside costume and possibly an outside-fit-over-the-snowsuit costume< but if I didn't have time at least I could count on the neck up costume part Cheesy

I hope you get it all figured out!

Thanks! This is only our second Alberta winter! And this one definitely caught us off guard! I decided to do a fleece dress for my daughter. I have it where I can let it out for Halloween night to fit over her snow suit. The wings are separate too so they should work over the top of her snow suit!  My son might just end up with the dino tail being the only thing seen on his! I'm not going to remake the entire hoodie right now! (way to much work!) hopefully some of our snow melts by then!!

I grew up in the Seattle area so the only problem we had was rain on Halloween! (which also could put a big damper on the entire door to door part!)

Next year I might go with all my local friend's suggestions of buying a warm clearance costume at Walmart this year that is big enough for the snow suit next year. Then I'll just make the cute party/school costume for them to wear!
