I made this for my bestie from childhood.
She's the friend that I found out about Santa from. She told me that (spoiler alert) Santa is her MUM! So we went to her mum togehter and sat down and said, "Mum... We think we know about Santa."
"Oh, yes," says Mum, "What do you know about Santa?"
"Well, we think that YOU are Santa" we say.
"Oh..." says Mum.
"Well, we DO have a question..." we said.
"Yes, what is that?" she replied.
"How do you get around everyone's houses?" I ask
"And why does everyone else get better pesents than me?" asked my friend!

Obviously she is having a baby girl. I wanted to make the stripe pattern more interesting than just even stripes, so I did color rows of: 3, 3, 3, 2, 2, 1, 1, 1, 2, 2 (and repeat)

This is the little bow on the edge. Originally I wanted to put the ribbon through the gaps and have a solid border, but it didn't work because the gaps were too large and rippled.

This is the pattern. It is the first time I went around the post. It is shell, chain one, shell, treble (round post), treble (round post) (and repeat)

That's how you get the cute stripes:
