A couple of weeks ago, I played around with dying some of my hand spun alpaca with regular ol' food dye.  The colors are not exactly what I wanted, but I'm pretty impressed with the results, given the dye was only a couple dollars.

There are a few more pictures on my blog, if anyone is interested: http://tengocrafty.blogspot.com/2012/09/fluorescent-gryffindor-experiment-in.html

Look twice, decide I can make one instead.

You know you need more caffeine when you read the title and think "oh no!  Her aplaca is dying, that so sad."

Really cool vibrant colors out of food dye!

Thank you both for your feedback!!

Juliettesjules, because I suspect a large portion of the population is suffering from some degree of caffeine deficiency, I changed the title of the post. Smiley

HAHAHA! Alpaca dying... HAHAHA!
Lovely colors. I think it's fun when dye jobs don't really do what you think they will, well, when you're just experimenting. If it was for something you had already planned then it wouldn't be cool. But just playing is always fun to see the results! Yay for learning! And yay for alpaca.

Will the colors fade with washing?
