We have recently brought a Brother 1034D serger machine for the production of silk ribbons. After much experimenting with threads and tensions we have managed to get a nice tidy stiched edge to the ribbons, but we can't work out how to taper off the ends to a point and finish! The silk can't be turned over for the return stitch as the stitch pattern needs to be the same on each side. Can anyone please help? I cant attach a photo but here is a link to the silk ribbons very similar to whch we are trying to finish from a u.k beaders website -http://www.eternalflow.co.uk/home.php?cat=300
many thanks in advance...

Most ribbon edges are sealed with heat.
At home you would use a candle/lighter flame to melt the edges.
You can use a heat tool to cut and seal the edges at the same time. This would be my suggestion to you, as you would be able to cut and seal the taper at the ame time.
