Personal poppet swap? PM me!

« on: July 13, 2012 04:02:59 PM »

I recently made this poppet of the Tenth Doctor/ David Tennant (from Doctor Who) for the amazingly wonderful lanikins for this year's round of The Poppet Mini Swap.

This lil' guy was without a doubt my biggest poppeting challenge for a number of reasons- a) It's for LANIKINS, no pressure or anything Wink b) Doctor Who, what? Yep, I am one of those few who has never watched Doctor Who before and only knows anything about it from other crafts I have seen on here? Tardis quilt anyone? Wink c) Clothing. David? Yeah, he has a LOT of layers.

Anyways, I am really glad with how he turned out- and without further adieu! (PS. I apologize for his sloppiness in some pics, I didn't adjust his clothing before taking the pics because I was just too excited to- he isn't near as wonky as he looks in some of these):

Close-up ish thing:

The TRENCH COAT (I had to capitalize it because I believe it to be quite epic- in all honesty it is the single most thing that I am most proud to have made before. I didn't add any closures to it because I wanted it to stay open so that you could see the lining- this baby required A LOT of handstitching) (and I ended up using baby socks which looked like converse for his shoes):

The lining itself:

The suit (unfortunately I was unable to find a suit fabric with blue pinstripes, so this was the next best thing):

And his dress shirt:

C/C welcome!

Love his suit and his eyes are amazing. Great Job, I am sure your partner is one happy camper.

So many ideas so little time. Will I ever get them all done?

He is amazing! Love his eyes, his long eyelashes, his curly hair.
And he comes with an entire wardrobe. Just amazing!

Great job, especially since you were not familiar with Dr. Who (I don't know anything about that too, only pics I've seen on Craftster, haha, so you're not the only one..), crafting for lanikins would make me super nervous too (she rocks), and I can sew clothing but puppet clothing, that small is tricky!

Okay, so I hit this rocks!! You definitely deserve that!  Cheesy You pushed your limits, love it when that happens!

I'm loving it. Cheesy Ten was my favorite doctor, and you did a great job with the details, especially considering you haven't actually seen the show. He generally wears his coat open when it's on, so good call wanting to keep it open too. Smiley
