Something pretty!  Yeay!

There's an amazing boutique/coffee shop/chocolatier around here, whose giftshop is always full of the most beautiful, inspiring things.  On a visit a while back (probably a year or two) I saw a gorgeous sprocket pillow and HAD TO HAVE ONE.  Except it was pink.  I have two young daughters, there is enough pink in my life already.  And it was $120.  Even for a very pretty pillow, that's pushing things.  My crafty shoulder angels duked it out...

You can guess who won.

I spent a week adding little appliques, embroidery and beading details to the cushion top:

It got sewed together Wednesday night (State of Origin!  Well done, NSW.  We'll let you have that one ;P )... and last night, I stuffed it with 4x500g bag of polyester fill.

It's 68cm across, and about 30cm tall, which is a bit bigger than the shop pillow.  Very comfy to flop on!  And my purse is happy.  It cost less than $30 to DIY.

Forgot to mention - this project is my 'Detention with Snape' requirement in the Harry Potter craftalong!

Well you have convinced me that I need one of these. It would be nice in the pillow sitting area that I am planning for my office.

All of the effort was worth it!! The tiny details you added make it extra special. I adore this.

*pinned* you did awesome. $30 is way better and it's still handmade, by you, so that makes it even more special. It looks like great quality, too, so good for your girls. I see an heirloom in the future!

Your shoulder devil needs a halo because DIYing it is way more important than supporting handmade. You are teaching your girls independence and learning and stuff... I think I lost my train of thought.

Oh, whew. I'm glad I'm not the only one who has two crafty shoulder angels. (Also: glad I'm not the only one who thinks the horny one speaks so much sense!)

Gorgeous pillow! I just want to nab it and floomph myself down on it. Maybe it'll be inspiration for me to eventually learn how to sew so I can have one of my own. Smiley Once I move and whittle my yarn stash down a bit, of course.
