This project is SO easy, yet it provides hours of fun and learning.  My little guy is fascinated with the stars and solar system.

Supplies
Giant cardboard box (mine was from a foam mattress)
Screwdriver
Christmas/twinkle lights

Steps
With the screwdriver, take out your energy (or anger) on one side of the box.  Stab it repeatedly. Cheesy  Try to spread the holes all across the side of the box.

Poke each bulb through a hole in the box.

Plug the light strand into a socket.

Climb in the box and enjoy! Smiley*

*My bulbs have never felt warm, but make sure to use with adult supervision and unplug when not in use.

Come on in!

"WOW!  I see Mars!"

View, if you are laying inside the box

He added the canopy aka "tunnel leading to the star house" Cheesy

He asked if we could use a telescope, so I gave him a sheet of foam to roll into one.  Voila!  Star hunter.

This project was 110% inspired by Play at Home Mom's cave of stars blog post.  She rocks! Kiss

These pics would have gotten loads of comments on Facebook Smiley Beats the ordinary ones of kids at the park, playing the back yard, etc. This looks magical and I'm sure your boy will look back fondly on what you created for him.

Aww, that's so sweet!  He does really love our little projects, crafting and cooking.  I'm certain these will be some of his first memories.

Awwww! I love the look of wonder on his face in the second photo! My heart melted, throwing me back to stargazing on the roof with my dad and brother, looking at Mars through dad's Bushnel binoculars... QQ

Ahh, the good old Bushnel binoculars.  Great memories here, too.  I was thinking of making him a pair of binoculars from two toilet paper tubes. Cheesy
