So my friends all decided that I would make them purses for their birthdays. Since I really enjoy sewing, this wasn't a problem. Smiley  The only problem I had with this "purse" is that I thought it would be a lot smaller...the picture on the front of the pattern is misleading! And yes, I know I should have read the dimensions on the back of the pattern. Oh well. My friend loved her tote!

I added this pocket in - it wasn't part of the original pattern.

Okay so the "hand made" part is a stretch - but these tags were so cute I had to buy them!

And one last pic so you can try to get an idea of how big it is. It's big enough for a 3-ring binder and some other stuff too.

Where did you get that outer fabric?  I've been looking for fabric like that!  It's so cute!

I am selling my crafty things to raise some money to go towards my adoption costs!

Everything is from Joann's. The outer fabric is one of their home decorator fabrics.

Well I haven't gotten much feedback on this tote - is there anything I could do next time to make it better?  Undecided Thanks.

I think the tote is super duper!!! I love it! I wish there were a Joann's here so I could get the same material. What pattern did you use?

The inner pocket is a great add-on. I love them for my bus pass and cell phone so I don't have to dig through the mess when I'm in a hurry!

Good job!

I'm on a break from swapping... much needed!

well you could always make a matching pouch to go with it or something.  I think its really cute.  What did you use to make it so stiff?
I also always have a problem with patterns for purses and bags being much larger than I want.  I've reduced them on copiers before 50% to get a decent size purse Wink

What pattern did you use?

I used Butterick 4041, bag B

I actually stitched plastic canvas together with some random yarn, rolled it up, and tucked it inside before stitching up the bottom. It worked out really well.

Great idea! I've never thought of that before! Smiley

Thanks for all the comments, girls! Smiley

Life isn't complete 'til you crochet a uterus for a friend.  Just make sure your fallopian tubes point down and not up! No one needs to lose an eye this way! Wink
