Hi all. I painted a chalkboard message centre in our kitchen this weekend (found here: https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=409166.0 ) and I needed some erasers. I guess I could have bought some but I decided to look around the house and see what I had so that I could just make some on the spot. I found some styrofoam, sweat suit fleece, some cardboard, and some scrapbook paper. That seemed to be enough.  So, I took the foam and cut it into a rectangle to the size of the eraser I wanted. I then cut the cardboard just slightly bigger than the styrofoam. I covered the cardboard with the scrapbook paper and then used a hot glue gun to cover the styrofoam with the fleecy side out. I then used the hot glue gun to glue the fleece-covered styrofoam to the cardboard, et voila! A chalkboard eraser that is way cuter than the ones you can buy in store...and REALLY easy!

I LOVE this idea. I just got through making a blackboard and added eraser to my shopping list. Your homemade eraser is WAY cuter! Thanks for the tutorial. I knew that I'd have a use for the styrofoam in the garage. I can hardly wait to make a couple of them.

Yay! Glad you like it! It's funny how we save things (ie the styrofoam in your garage) for just-in-cases such as this, huh?  Grin
