Recently I've really been having fun making this statement necklaces from t-shirt scraps. I made my first one after buying a necklace from a chain store and realising that it was really just plaited lengths of t-shirt material with things strung onto it.

Plaiting stage! I plaited a yellow ribbon, some old "friendship bracelet" orange string and strips of striped t-shirt into this one,.

Then I picked out a heap of different size buttons, and tightly knotted them onto the necklace.

For this one I used a heap of different beads I had laying around, and knotted them onto the t-shirt strips & coloured string at different places. Then I plaited the whole thing together.

Here's the finished product: beadsplosion! If anyone is interested in a more detailed tutorial, I wrote one for my blog: http://owlobsessedoddity.blogspot.com.au/2012/05/cleaning-out-your-closet-refashion_25.html

I love the grey & yellow colour combination and all the beads on the beaded one make it really quite special.

Look twice, buy once. Nooooo
Look twice, decide I can make one instead.
Everything goes better with beads.
