I don't know what stumpwork is and I can't stand blue jays, but that hoop is BEAUTIFUL! I honestly can't believe how much that looks like an actual blue jay (and I consider myself something of an authority, as I am accosted by them almost daily outside my apartment building). Nicely done!

I mailed to Vixen72 quite awhile ago but she seems to have gone MIA so I thought I would post a picture of what I sent to her.  I seem to have this 'thing' lately for making letter hoops because I like to try out different patterns of solid color stitching.  This creation came from my own head and I'm fairly pleased with how it turned out.

The stumpwork is gorgeous!!! Amazing job Sewphie!

The dandelion was looking gorgeous as well - so disappointing to not have a finished shot of it Sad

I love that nevermore pattern at Urban threads! Nice rendition! someday I hope to do that one and their wordy bird design side by side.

Great D Cindy! If you are still in the mood to do patterned letters next round can you claim me for an S to match my K? I think that would be another nice side by side pairing Smiley

Speaking of next round - Life is very hectic for me and we still have some loose ends to tie up from round 6 (Looks like we will be needing a couple angels). Look for round 7 to open a bit later in the month.

A lot of lovely hoops!
I've really liked all the variety of monograms/letters I've seen in these swaps.

I can't wrap my head around the stumpwork... it's really lovely!

The stump work bird is gorgeous!! I also have no idea how to do it.. Is it on a machine? Love the letter D. May have to add letters to my list next round! Sign ups later in the month is great for me! My brother comes into town next week and is staying for two weeks so I have to take a swap break myself! Been loving this gallery and my first time swapping hoops!

Thankyou all for the compliments on the stumpwork bluejay. For those that are interested it is an embroidered slip- this means you hand embroider the body of the bird on a piece of fabric then cut it out leaving a half cm border. You then applique that onto your background tucking the border under as you go, using small stab stitches leaving a small opening for stuffing. I then stuffed it using toy stuffing and stiched it closed before adding details (beak, crest, legs) and a line of stem stitch around the outside to hide the stab stitches. Does that make sense?
 Brilliant tutorial here: http://theflossbox.blogspot.se/2012/02/embroidery-slips-tutorial.html

I love the blackwork style monogram- very striking

Like my stuff? Why don't you come visit sometime?
