Details of swap:
This swap was organized so everyone can get something crafty for their birthday! Please read the guidelines carefully.
**You have ONE WEEK after being approved for this swap in which to make your first claim!**
1. This swap is list style, like the Ongoing Wishlist Swap. However, it is NOT chain style. You can choose any birthday Craftster’s list that is posted, rather than only being able to pick from the last one posted like in the OWS.
2. This is a medium item swap. A medium item is defined as a craft or recon, etc that takes you two hours to complete OR $20 worth of store bought items. (If bought from a thrift store, estimate what it would have cost new.) However, you may also substitute a few small items for a medium.
3. If your birthday is in swap's current month, you can post your birthday wish list for this month. To do that, you must first PM me with the swap questionnaire filled out and wait for approval. While you're waiting, be sure to post in the discussion/gallery thread:
https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=406429.0
4. Once you have been approved, you may post your list of things that you would like to receive. This is the format for your lists: First post your location and a short bio of yourself, then a list of crafted items you would like, then craft supplies (if any) and lastly you can put a few “extras” that aren’t crafted, things like candy or tea. Remember, the more items on your list, the more likely you are to be chosen. The minimum of items to post is five. Also including your wists, etsy favorites, etc. is a good way for people to get the idea of your likes and style. If you have any allergies please type them in red in your bio section. Please see "Tips to Creating a Good List" below.
5. Please post lists only in this thread. Discussion can be done here in the combined discussion/gallery thread: Please be sure to post here so that you can be part of the discussion and receive. You will not be approved until you have posted in the discussion thread.
6. Every birthday participant must make at least one claim. You may have up to two claims at a time, unless you are an FOC or a first time swapper, and then you can claim again once your items are received (not when you mail out). New swappers may only have one outstanding claim; they may claim again after their first claim is received. FOC's may have 3 outstanding claims at a time. Claims need to be made from the "crafted" and "craft supplies" sections of a person's list. The "extras" are just that--extra items you may want to throw in if you are feeling generous, but claims cannot be solely extras. Keep it crafty :-) (I'm asking that if you are sending mostly supplies, that you craft a little something for the bday babe, even if it's a handmade card.)
7. You may get claimed more than once, but your minimum amount to claim is one. It is possible you may not get claimed at all. In this case you will not be provided a swap angel; angels are only if you get flaked on. However I do my best to make sure everyone gets claimed by keeping track of how many times each person is claimed. If possible try to pick someone who has been claimed 0 times versus someone who has been claimed 3 times.
8. If it is not your birthday but you would like to send a birthday present out you may do so. Fill out the “non-birthday swapper” questionnaire and send it to me for approval. Birthday swappers who receive a present from a non-birthday swapper must send a snail mail thank you card. You will not receive feedback until I hear from the other swapper that they have received a thank you card.
9.
When you choose to fulfill a birthday wish, PM both the organizer AND the chosen Craftster
. At that time, please request the address from the receiver for where to send it. After that, you have 2 weeks to get the item out the door.
10. It is super important for everyone to keep good communication.
It is REQUIRED that you PM me when you've sent
and of course,
don't forget the DC#
. It is REQUIRED that when you receive, you PM me and publicly announce in the gallery (even if you don't have pictures). If you do not send the appropriate pm’s you will receive “poor communication feedback.
11. When one of your items is chosen, please cross it out so that it is easier for others to see what has been chosen. (It wouldn't hurt to thank the person at this time either.)
12.
If you are sending late you must PM TroubleT
by your send-out date. If your send-out date comes and goes and you don’t PM me, you will receive “poor communication” feedback. It should not be my job to hunt you down and find out what is going on.
13.
If you are flaked on in this swap
you will receive an angel, but only in the amount of packages to which you also sent out. For instance, if you send out 2 packages, and are claimed for 3 packages but are flaked on once, you will not receive an angel because you already received 2 packages, which is equal to what you sent. If you send 1 package and are claimed for 1 package and you are flaked on, you will receive 1 angel.
Please make sure to put “Mar. Birthday Swap” or something equivalent in the subject line on all communications. The most important thing to me is communication. Please PM me (TroubleT) when you send and receive, and please reply to my PM's to you in a timely manner.
If you format your PMs like this:
Format for PMs:
Proper label:
"Apr. Bday Swap" and either "Sign-up," "Claim," "Sent," "Received," or "Question"
When sending sent and received PMs include the send-by date, listed in the second post of the main thread, your user name, their user name and the item. Just copy and past the info from the second post if you want!:
Send by Apr. 14
kaz814 to TroubleT -- pretty purse
Outstanding claims allowed:
FOCs: 3 at a time
First time swappers: 1 at a time
Everyone else: 2 at a time
Become an FOC~

TIPS TO CREATING A GOOD LIST
It seems that every month there is someone whose list languishes for a while. I want everyone to get picked so here are some tips for a well-round list:
--Make sure your items are actually mediums and smalls. Quilts are not mediums. Large painted portraits are not mediums. Hand knit sweaters are not mediums. This isn’t to say that you can’t have any large items on your list (some generous soul may have the time and the inclination to choose one of those!), but the majority of the list should be smaller items
--Listing “A surprise” plus a well filled out Craftster profile and a link to your wists (with a decent amount of items on it) is always helpful in getting chosen
--Make sure to post a variety of crafting techniques. If you list appliquéd t-shirts in five various themes and count that as your required five items, that is more like one item for someone to choose, not five. Having various crafting methods (sewn, knit, crocheted, paper crafted, jewelry, etc.) is going to make it easier for people to choose you.
--Check out other lists in past Bday swaps and the Ongoing Wishlist Swap for ideas for things you never knew you wanted!
If you want to SIGN UP TO POST YOUR BIRTHDAY LIST:
QUESTIONNAIRE TO ANSWER (BIRTHDAY SWAPPERS):
Name of swap: April 2012 Birthday Swap
Craftster username:
Email address:
Real name & Address (formatted for mailing):
When is your birthday?
Have you read and understand all of the rules to this swap?
Are you willing to send at least a medium item per claim?
(If not then you will not be approved.)
Are you at least 16 years old? Yes/No
Who and what do you claim for crafting? If you do not know yet/it's the beginning of the swap, you have 1 week after being approved to claim someone:
If shipping within the US, I agree to obtain a DC#: Yes/No
If shipping from outside of US, I agree to provide a copy/scan of my mailing receipt. Yes/No
Have you posted in the discussion thread already? If you say yes and haven't I will not approve you. If you say no I will not approve you. Discussion thread found here:
https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=406429.0
Yes/No
Quiz: What do you have to do if someone who is a non-bday swapper sends you a gift?
Quiz 2: How long do you have to send out after making your claim?
If it is
NOT your birthday
and you want to SEND TO A BIRTHDAY CRAFTSTER:
QUESTIONNAIRE TO ANSWER:
Name of swap- April 2012 Birthday Swap (Non-Bday Craftster)
Craftster username:
Email address:
Real name:
Mailing address, including country and properly formatted for shipping:
Chosen craftster and item (if you know):
If shipping within the US, I agree to obtain a DC#: Yes/No
If shipping from outside of US, I agree to provide a copy/scan of my mailing receipt. Yes/No
I understand that I will be getting a thank you card and not a package for this swap. Yes/No
IF YOU WANT TO PARTICIPATE, REMEMBER TO SEND YOUR INFO TO THE ORGANIZERS VIA PM AND NOT TO REPLY WITH IT HERE.
Also remember to read the Swap Info Guide to find out how to ship your item and other details about participating in a swap.
Please make sure to post in the combined Gallery/Discussion Thread to keep up with updates:

HI! My name is Shannin. My birthday is on April 4th! I will be turning 22. I'm an undergrad (computer science major) at UC Berkeley. I like geeky and gamer things. I absolutely LOVE pandas, and I'm
allergic to cats
(but they are super cute! I'm going to get a hypoallergenic cat someday). My favorite color is
orange
, but for clothing and such, I prefer neutral colors like black, gray, brown, and light, creamy beige. I don't care for pink, purple, or pastels. My favorite print is damask and I also like the look of linen. I do not wear jewelry of any kind. I love love LOVE lace. My favorite crafts to do are spinning, knitting, crocheting, and sewing. I want to learn how to make hot/cold process soaps!
My Pinterest:
http://www.pinterest.com/banannin/
Crafted Items
-- handmade shea soaps
-- I love purses/totes
-- case for a 3DS and DS lite (separate)
-- case for a small point-and-shoot camera
-- anything with pandas!
-- anything you think I'd like by looking at my
Pinterest
! I'm very easy to please.
Supplies
-- Lace, any color, any length, any size.
-- Fiber for spinning, dyed or undyed. my skin is pretty sensitive so I prefer next-to-skin soft fibers.
-- Fabric: cottons, bamboo, linen, lace. Any color of solids! I also love damask prints. Panda print fabric and banana print fabric would be cool, too. I'll take any fabric, fat quarters and decent sized scrap fabrics too.
-- Buttons, all shapes and sizes and colors.
-- Ribbons, any color, any design, any length.
-- Film, 35mm or 120 film. Fujifilm Instax Mini film cartridges or Polaroid 300 film cartridges or Polaroid 600 film cartridges. Expired film is absolutely OK!
Extras
-- I'm crazy for milk chocolate! Milk chocolate + toffee is my favorite.

I'm KW, I live in Melbourne, Australia. I'm single and childless, but I do have a cat. He's adorable. I also now a first time aunt! I have a beautiful niece!!
I work as a captioner, which means I get to watch TV all day, and get paid for it. I'm a bit of a sci-fi geeknerd - especially Doctor Who, Futurama and old sci-fi movies.
I've played rollerderby for 3 years, and it sucks up 85% of my free time. Or it did... Until I broke my leg at training in February this year. No set date for when I'll be playing again... I'm really hoping that I'll get back on skates in the middle of the year, but the ortho just told me it might take the whole year....
I lovelovelove Indonesia - especially central Java. It's my 'other' hometown and I really like the cultural stuff that they have - batik and wayang and all of that. There's something beautiful and elegant about the traditional Javanese crafts.
I'm also well fond of sci-fi and robots. ROBOTS ARE AWESOME!
www.wists.com/kittenwrangler
http://pinterest.com/100flowers/
Pintrest is freshly formed, so there's not much on it yet.
This list will probably get longer as I think of more things. Feel free to get in touch if you've got your own brilliant idea about something I might like.
Crafts
I need a spanking new black bag/handbag. I don't really have one that's plain black.
An eye mask for sleeping!
Lunchbags, things to carry lunch in - sandwich wraps and snack bags are also good
Armwarmers. Or, more to the point, something I can wear underneath my wristguards and elbow pads to help sop up the sweat. Sewn knit fabrics are better than knitted.
Skirts. Little plain black skirt would be sweet.
Legwarmers! Yay!
- Protective pouches and purses for my things like the iPod, the smartphone, camera, the cords and power adapters I carry around with me every day.
- Something with the chemical symbols for caffeine, capsaicin, or theobromine on them - jewellery or t-shirts are cool
- stacks of washcloths and sweat moppers also good!!
- bike basket lining. I'd like a lining (either easily washable or waterproof) for the basket on the back of my bike.
- wisty/pinterest surprise, maybe?
- wall art. Communist/socialist themed (think Chinese style stuff) or batik themed, but if you choose batik, please PM me for details, as I like specific designs like parang rusak or mega medung.
- 5" embroidered hoops, with my fave themes OR fave song lyrics.
- headscarves - crocheted or sewn. Or another Calorimetry (
http://www.knitty.com/ISSUEwinter06/PATTcalorimetry.html
) but in a lighter sort of yarn so I can wear it in summer
- button badges of any of my fave things.
- waterproof cover for my bike seat.
- I would like a holster or something like that for my sonic screwdriver (Such a sad, sad, pathetic geek...)
- wide wrist cuffs, kinda punky/industrial aesthetic. I have an awesome one at home made of leather and vinyl, and I'd like more.
There's a ton of stuff I'd like screenprinted onto tshirts. I have another logo that a friend designed for me that I'd love to get printed/stencilled on a tee. I'll provide the logo on request.
- Also good for printing/stencilling: The logo from Dynasty (the TV show) - black on yellow or something like that
- handmade journals for writing my terribly important thoughts into. I tend to like little books
- summer clothes to wear at home - Pyjamas or a err… I call them dusters, but that's the Dutch/Indo term. A big, loose housedress.
- cat toys. He likes to play fetch, so something he can carry in his mouth would be good. Or a fishing-line type toy. Be creative - I've trained him since he was a kitten to attack and maul kaiju, so Godzilla or Mothra cat toys would be awesome
- lingerie wash bags. I go through a TON of tights coz of the whole derby thing, and they last a bit longer if I don't just throw them into the machine and hope real hard.
- Polyclay charms shaped like derby quad skates. 'Proper' skates, not those retro white artistic ones.
- Jewellery or maybe embroidery inspired by hamsa symbols. Styling wise, I prefer the Arabic hamsas rather than the jewish or hindu styles
- Lego ring!! See mah pins for what I'm talking about.
- Earrings. I like earrings!
- Manchester, ie: Pillow cases. I'm too lazy to make them for myself, but I'd love some in European pillow size or sized to fit my body pillows.
Craft Supplies
Patterns for children's clothing. I'm thinking adorable dresses and things for my new niece - any size, really, coz she's only going to get bigger from here on out.
This is a big fat wish. Lutterloh patterns - vintage would be awesome. They are stupid expensive though, so I'm not holding out much hope.
Wool for a knitting machine, any colour don't care, just want to try to make something with the machine I've had in my loungeroom for years.
Stuff for carving handmade stamps. Got an idea - want to see if I can make it work.
Handkerchiefs I can embroider on. I'd like to step away from using tissues for mucous mopping duties.
Ear threads like these:http://earthreads.com/images-large/esb501-large.jpg
Although preferably with two bar ends, not a bar end and a dangle.
Lots of thin silver chain.
readycut origami paper for lucky star making, or just normal origami paper - preferably with abstract patterns/designs on them, not pictures of things
Wooden embroidery hoops in a range of sizes
Stuff for bagmaking - magnetic clasps, D Rings, loops, buckles, that sort of thing.
Always looking for more keys popped off from computer keyboards.
Knitting/sewing patterns for simple summer tops. Only proviso is that they need to look good on someone with smallish bone structure, but massive boobs. (Curse my life, I'm like a 32GG according to my sports bra) So V-shape or wide sort of necklines, straps wide enough to cover up the fabric engineering feat that is my bra, etc etc.
Pieces of foamcore board. Not huge pieces - maybe a couple of 10cm x 10cm squares will be enough for the project I have in mind.
inkpads for stamping
Fabric with robots on it. Good robots, not sappy emotional love-hearty cutesy robots
lino carving tools and/or supplies
books or something on t-shirt recons.
Extras
Badges and stickers or t-shirts/tanks from local derby leagues
Knee-high socks in colours/designs I don't already own

Hello, fellow April babies! I am Angie, and i'm turning 25 on the 18th! It feels so weird to write that. I live in Washington state. My favorite color is purple, combination is brown and blue... and recently i am
loving
blue and orange. My favorite colors to wear are yellow and green (and black and grey).
I love surprises. And my pinterest is filled out quite well...
http://pinterest.com/bananaleg
I've even got a board called 'For Swapsies' -
http://pinterest.com/bananaleg/for-swapsies/
Things i love: black and white films (that definitely includes silent films!), 1920s, rain/clouds, 1960s/hippie era, Clark Gable, Cary Grant, Elvis Presley, Doctor Who, swirls, bananas, goats...
CRAFTED ITEMS
_handspun yarn -- i love any yarn with colors or names inspired by water
_mug -- shaped like this:
http://pinterest.com/pin/84935142942012694/
_infinity dress -- in black, or some other dark color
_explorer bag, like:
http://pinterest.com/pin/249253098/
_fabric coil bowl
_circular hippie vest in blues and browns:
http://pinterest.com/pin/84935142942266594/
_this t-shirt, it's like my state on a shirt:
http://pinterest.com/pin/84935142941978955/
_i'd love a cool stenciled/screenprinted/bleach-dyed shirt... i prefer v-necks
HOOPLA -- I'm trying to build my own hoopla wall, and i have so many ideas!
--Dia. Interpret this how you will. We called my grandma Dia, and she lost her battle with ovarian cancer when i was almost 2 1/2. It wasn't until sometime last year that i realized the Spanish word for 'day' is 'dia'... So, something with sunshine would be cool. I would also love for it to say "dia" or "Dia" somewhere. Maybe in a pretty cursive? I always love a typewriter font.
--outline of Washington state with Tacoma marked on it
--Seattle skyline -- nothing too extravagant, just a simple outline, maybe like this:
http://pinterest.com/pin/153718638/
--the text: #finishedwithgrace
--"Forgive me, i'm blowing your mind." --(it's a quote from Vanilla Sky)
--any sort of rain/cloud scene
SUPPLIES
_buttons
_pussywillow fabric:
http://pinterest.com/pin/84935142941919913/
_yarn -- especially soft natural fibers like alpaca, or banana silk!
_yarn scraps -- i have plans for a scarf with scraps from fellow craftsters
EXTRAS
_tea -- i want to try all different types of tea... send me your favorite and how you like to prepare it
_anything with German on it
_i would love local treats, especially candies and things i can't get in the US

Hi all! I am puzzler and live in Connecticut. My birthday is on the 8th. I like simple, practical things. I try being “green” and lately have been very good with becoming healthier (love zumba and hiking and I am doing pretty well with dieting). I love nature, photography and movies. I am Wes Anderson movies fan. I've been watching Doctor Who lately and love that show. I am starting to learn Tai Chi and German. Whatever questions you have- I will answer (I'm terrible at describing myself!).
Favorite colors: green, blue, gray, black and white. (Please don't send me any pink items!
)
Crafted items:
zippered pouch(es) – for a camera or hairbrush or any number of random things I carry with me.
Thank you bananaleg!
Anything to do with skin health (face scrub? Lotion? Anything that isn't too oily, that you like making).
Hand spun yarn (blue, green, grey/black.. etc- see my wists for ideas)
Thank you Shannin
(I'm not crossing this one out - there is never enough yarn!)
Something from here:
http://www.wists.com/puzzler
handmade journal (any size, but at least 4x6), there is a great one (Dr Who inspired) on my wist
Stationery (paper and envelopes) for letter writing.
Screenprinted or stenciled t-shirt (2xl)
Craft supplies:
zippers!!
iron-on transfer pens
embroidery floss
stitch holders (for knitting)
instructions and/or starting kit on making face scrub
ink stamp pads
pencil lead, thick and long- so that I can try making pencils with it
Modge Podge
spinning supplies/kit
fabric fat quarters (or bigger cotton fabric pieces)
sewing machine needles
Extras:
green tea, acai berries, or healthy snacks.
Thanks to anyone who wants to claim me and
Happy Birthday
to all April babies!

Hello all! I'm Jessica. My birthday is April 26, when I'll be turning a glorious 34.
I've got this little girl side of me that loves cartoon-style cute big-eyed things like monsters and birds and animals and even inanimate objects with eyeballs, like cupcakes and bubblegum machines. I guess I just like cute big-eyes. lol
My small Pinterest:
