Topic: Too small t-shirt and vintage silk necktie reconstruction  (Read 2398 times)

I slit the shirt up the front and slit the tie up the back. The wider part of the tie went down the front of the shirt. The skinnier part, I backed with interfacing, pleated it up and sewed it around the neckline. I am quite pleased with this, especially considering I was making it up as I went along!

I've never seen a vintage tie used in this way but it really works well! It turned out great!

One thing to note - I used interfacing on the back of the pleated ruffle around the neck to give it more structure.
