Well I have FINALLY finished my crochet maryjanes - my first completed crochet project ever and first time at making my own pattern too... I started them a good few months ago and have only just finished them now that I've had a decent break from Uni. Unfortunately, my camera's a crap so you'll just have to imagine that they are actually green (not blue) - hence the frolicking in the spring meadow bit  Wink

At the time I didn't know how to join yarn, so I made it all in one piece. That's why there's the little peep hole at the back, which you could probably close up, but I don't know how, and quite like it anyhow. The flowers have been sewn on, and the strap is sewn down where the yellow flower is too.

The pattern for these can be found here on the CrochetMe website.

Those are so cute! If you could post the pattern (or where it's from), that would be great.

BTW, if you don't want the bottoms to get all skuzzy, or you're afraid you might slip, you could sew a pair of suede slipper soles to them. (Try a Froogle search of "slipper soles".)

Thanks for all the nice comments! I will post the pattern ASAP, although it might take a little while coz there's a bit that I can't explain without having to draw some kind of diagram!

Awesome! Thanks for the tip!!

Heehee... not a bad idea! Although it's currently winter where I am, so these are to remind me of spring!

I love them! About the hole in the back, couldnt you just sew it up or something? I dont think it would change the size that much.

Very cute. Personally, I like the hole in the back. Seems like it just makes it a little more unique and original with the hole.

If you want cheap slipper soles - either get fat craft foam, or cheap mouse mats. I kid you not, when my bro needed a hospital trip when he was little, my dad cut mouse mats to fit his goofy slippers so the bottoms wouldn't get shredded.
very cute btw

I don't want to frustrate you by asking this here, jan_on_ice, but I saw a FANTASTIC blue shrug in the crochet gallery on your site and I want one. Was it difficult to make or did you just create it as you went?

Heehee... that's not frustrating at all!!
I can't take credit for that shrug - I got the idea and tutorial from microgirl right here on Craftster: https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=35101.0
It's really really easy once you suss out how to do a Lover's Knot/Solomon's Knot stitch.

Here's another one by thats rad

I also remember someone made a red cardigan using lover's knot stitch but can't seem to find it...

Thanks!

It looks like you altered it a little. Your shrug isn't quite so . . . I guess tall is the best way to put it.

Loving it.

those are really cute! i made some slippers similar to that using another pattern. but i like the maryjane style and will have to adapt the pattern i have to do this!

i used foam for the bottoms of my slippers and it really helps with slips and making the slipper sturdier.

Yeah, it is a little shorter, but I think that's just because I really wanted to finish it, so stopped as soon as I could get it round my arms.
