I'm making a Vera-esque tote for someone right now, and I'm struggling to decide whether to make a lining. I'm using some pre-quilted (reversible) fabric, which I've never worked with before. She wants interior pockets, which I usually sew into my linings. How do I sew interior pockets without the stitches showing on the outside? Should I make a "lining" out of the pre-quilted fabric? It would definitely be strong, which my customer requested. (This bag will be her daughter's school bag.) Thanks for any advice!

It might not be appropriate, but have you considered free hanging pockets? So they're just attached at the top?

What if you made like a separate purse organizer she just fits into the bottom of the bag?

i had similar concerns about pre-quilted fabric.  for my project, I did not line since i liked both sides of fabric.  I think I used something (it was a while back) to cover the internal seams.
