Every time I blink I have a tiny dream....

So today I was at the dump and set aside in the store/salvage area I happened to find 5 garbage bags of prepared white wool roving ready to spin, a few bags of mixed, dyed bits of fiber, a full washed fleece and another bag of locks. I couldn't even believe by eyes, and I even made my wonderful trusting friend that was with me take a whiff all the while asking her "does it smell like sheep?Huh Does it?" The date on the washed fleece says it is from 1997. I am not sure how old the rest of it is but it appears to be in good shape. Is there a way to tell if it is still "good" and is there an expiration date on something like this? I hope not because I feel like today was one of those truly lucky, random, blessed days! Thanks all!

Now when you're finished say, "MY, what a lovely tea party!"

Does is draft easily??  If you pull out a lock and snap it, does it break??  (or draft)

I'd say you found a gold mine!!

Do the ping test!  Grab a staple of wool, and snap it near your ear.  Does it crackle, or ping?  Dang lady, it sounds like you had an awesome day!  Sure hope it all passes the ping test!

Oh... and another thought.  check it for moths or eggs.  Wouldn't much like to start an infestation in your stash!

Thanks guys! I'll try the ping test! I actually just spun some of the prepared batt and it came out ok- The fiber is a little nubby but not bad. I even navajo plied it without breakage. It seems to be holding if I overspin it a little, which really isn't a problem for me. I know, I truly couldn't even believe it! The guy charged me 5 bucks for all of it!
