Personal poppet swap? PM me!

For some reason I have been in a crafting slump (seriously, I am closing in on a year soon) but when I saw this backpack on Ebay (http://www.ebay.ca/itm/New-Thai-Large-Handmade-OWL-Patchwork-Backpack-Bag-/260937945458?pt=US_CSA_WH_Handbags&hash=item3cc11d1172) I KNEW THAT I HAD TO MAKE IT! Au revoir crafting slump! Hello new inspiration! Wink

The body of the backpack was really quite easy to make, I just looked at the pictures of the Ebay bag and sketched out a pattern. I lined everything (including the feathers) with a thick felt (for some reason I haven't gotten the hang of sewing cotton batting) to make everything super sturdy. The hardest part I ran into was making the straps. I spent hours making cute little patchwork straps out of the batik fabric and as soon as I sewed them on the backpack and put it on they stretched a ridiculous amount and some seams started to pop :/ (because, as I mentioned, I lined everything with felt the backpack is quite heavy, I'd say at least 3-5 pounds.... Without anything in it! Oops.... Wink ). I then decided to use webbing for the straps. I need this baby to be able to hold quite a bit because I carry a ton of stuff around with me everyday at university (yes, I said university, I am totally going to be the most immature university student ever. And I am okay with that... Wink ).

Here it is laying flat:

I made a drawstring closure so that I can fit a lot of stuff in it (the mouth is just wide enough that my laptop will fit in it):

Here are the super duty straps I mentioned:

And here it is being worn (don't mind the messy background Wink ):

EDIT: Just in case anyone is wanting to make one of these backpacks I used:
-5 fat quarters of batik (I got them on a recent trip to the states from Jo-Anns Fabric and Craft Stores for $1.99/piece- seriously, all of you Americans are super lucky- Batik here in Canada runs at a minimum of $18.99/yard, not to mention the selection at Jo-Anns is AMAZING!)
-1/2 yard of fabric for the exterior of the bag (the light purple)
-1/2 yard for the interior lining of the bag (the light blue fabric with flowers on it)
-1 yard of felt (to interface everything)
-3 yards of webbing
-a handful of stuffing for the eyes/ eyebrows
-and a handful of backpack doohickies (like the thingers to adjust the strap length and whatnot)

C/C always welcome!
