I decided that I would made a quilt without any former quilt training. I scanned a lot of message boards (especially this one) and some youtube tutorials for all my advice. I probably broke every rule along the way, but I like how it turned out.

This was my first go at putting it together

But then I wanted more...

Here is where I ended up (Front...obviously)

And this is the back

It's also worth mentioning that I didn't want to spend a lot of money on my first quilt in the event that it turned out FUBAR, so instead, I used all thrifted fabric for the top and the black backing is a $5 sheet. Total, this was a $15 quilt, tops.

You're all so talented and I hope to eventually make quilts half as awesome as those I've seen here.

I think it came out really cute. And good work on the thrifted savings. I'm partial to animal prints anyway.  Smiley

Oh, you're a lot braver than I am.  Great looking quilt.  Did you machine quilt it in the seams, called "stitch in the ditch"?

Thanks all.

This quilt measures about 4ft by 5ft, so it's really a lap quilt.

I did machine quilt it after buying the mysterious walking foot I heard so much about. What a lifesaver that little thing is!
I also did the "stitch in the ditch" method because I didn't know what else to do with it; also, some of the "ditches" aren't so even, so sometimes my stitch gets crazy. I'm proud of it regardless Smiley

This quilt is wild (pun intended! Smiley ) What fun fabrics, and it's awesome that you were able to make it so cheaply!

I don't usually care for animal prints, but I love love love the way they come together in your quilt. The blue border takes it beyond awesome.
