My boyfriend is obsessed with StarCraft II and requested I make him a plushie baneling. I had intended on getting these guys done by Christmas, but I only ended up finishing about a week ago. Drafting patterns takes way longer and is way more difficult than I had expected. I ended up going through quite a few different versions of their heads and limbs before I settled on something I liked. They're both made out of minky which I love, but it's possibly the messiest fabric known to mankind. There was fluff all over my house (and me) by the end of this. I based these guys of of a combination of the concept art and some cute fan art I liked. Here is the concept art, and here is the fan art.

I love these guys enough that I currently have 2 more in progress. I became a little obsessed with banelings while I was making these guys so I want one to sit on my shelf and guard my room.  Grin

Wow!  These are adorable!  I bet your boyfriend loves them.  I'd never heard of StarCraft (I'm guessing it's a game) but I checked out your inspiration pics and I love how they're recognisable, but sooo much cuter.  Excellent job!

I've never heard of StarCraft but your banelings are adorable. I can see why you want to make more.

Your versions are so cute!  I don't think I could handle anything that looked closer to the original lurking around, guarding things or not.  But I'm not a starcraft fan, and I would love being over-run with your plushies.  Excellent job!

These little guys are adorable! They are a tad creepy but oh so cuddly at the same time! Really great job. I love the colors you chose.  Grin

Haha, my partner actually suggested I sell some of these guys too. I think I might list one on etsy or ebay when I get the chance. I'm completely addicted to making things out of this fabric so I wouldn't mind making more.

I forgot to mention in my original post but the red and green baneling has a rattle. I was going to but a squeaker in the other guy but he's too fat for it to work. =[ Does anyone know how to make squeakers work in larger plush toys? There's just too much stuffing for the squeaker to squeak. =[
