After making the puppy coat, I decided that our poodle, Ruby, needed something. I found some scraps of blue hankerchief fabric and used some tan fabric for the backing. I was hoping I had something more girlie, but those were the only scraps big enough, and I really wanted to sew something else.

I used a pattern for a dog harness, made the strap pieces a little longer, and added a "cape" to the back. I drew out the pattern first, so the "dress" was made from only 2 pieces of fabric.

I call it a dress, for lack of a better term. It's a little longer and more flared at the back than a coat, so I call it a dress. I want to make it a little more fancy and girlie looking, so I think I will add some red pockets with some of the scraps that I have. I may also add some red ribbon or other decorations.

This was only my 2nd sewing project with no help, so I think it turned out pretty well.

Aww, Ruby looks so nice in her dress.  You're doing well with your sewing, ranch_grl.  Keep it up!
