I made a dress for my daughter each day this weekend - sewing bliss!    We're going on holidays soon, so I wanted to give her a couple of nice summer dresses to wear while we're there...

This is the dress I made on Sunday - it's the Oliver + S Tea Party Sundress, and it's now availble as a printable pattern - - I think it was just $9 to download on the oliver + s website, and I was assembling my pattern in mere minutes.  Love instant gratification!

The pattern only goes to a size 5, but my daughter is a size 6, so I modified the pattern pieces and I did it *almost* perfectly, but I didn't think to lengthen the skirt pieces, so it ended up being a little on the short side.  So then at the last minute I added the bottom pink piece to try to add a bit of length - I ended up adding about 3/4" that way - a little more length, anyway!  Grin

I cut all the pattern pieces out last night (Saturday) and it probably took me about 2 hours to get all my changes worked out and then cut out.  Then today, I probably spent about 4 hours sewing it all together - or so; I was interrupted by my kids more often than not...  There are 6 panels in the skirt and a liner on the bodice.  I did french seams throughout to keep it clean inside, and then there's all that top-stitching.  It's truly beautiful in all its detail.

I love how the pink and the yellow play off each other to make this a very bright, summery dress - It really looks so much better in real life, but I just couldn't get my camera to cooperate tonight.  Tongue

Thanks for looking!

It looks very cute! Is that piping between the skirt panels? Either way it is adorable.

Yes, it's "flat piping" - just some bias-cut fabric folded in half, as recommended by the pattern...  Cheesy
