I wanted to make a really special gift for a friend of mine, to say Thank you for all that she does for me and after racking my brains I decided to make a Beatles quilt. The only problem was that I had never made a quilt before. I did some reading ordered some fabric and here is what I came up with.

It was difficult to get a decent picture of the whole thing.

I hand stitched lyrics from 4 different Beatles songs around the edges. I think this was my favourite part.

My friend loved the quilt and I was really pleased with how it turned out. I would like some feedback though from more experienced quilters though!

That's amazing. Not only are they one of my favourite bands, but all that handstitching of lyrics must have taken you forever. Really brilliant!

Look twice, buy once. Nooooo
Look twice, decide I can make one instead.

Very nice! When I first started quilting I made a few that had the big center block they are a lot of fun. The lyrics was a great touch. i think you're on the right track.

Thanks for the replies. Going to try another quilt soon, when I'm not so busy.

The centre block was from ebay, I think it was shipped from Asia. It was fantastic quality and the image is like a painting of the iconic photograph, so a little different. The only trouble was that it was a shiny satin type fabric, so was a little tricky to work with.

Can you guys recommend any quilting blogs or websites?
