You know those plastic covered spindle things that CD-Rs come on? I've got a bunch just lying around because I'm a horrid packrat. Is there any way I can avoid throwing them away but make into something nice?

So where are you? my little needle.
The stack's been burned away.

i don't know how to post threads but I do remember the topic was   MOOD LIGHTING.

put that into search.  We've made several of hese now and they are really fun. we stacked 3 with different color lights in each one. the middle had those round faceted bulds ...very effective. Smiley hope that helps

Since I am too cheap to buy some CD cases I use these to put computer games, CD's, and programs in it.

You could always paint them and use them as hair tie holders or bracelet holder thingies.

I get to add a signature........ here it is.

I use the tall ones for mood lighting (https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=1610.0), and both the tall and short ones as forms for felt birthday cakes (tutorial at https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=26836.0) - you can tuck gift certificates, candies, whatever inside.

you could paint them and attach them to the wall for odd hangers? use the lids as bowls or whatnots.
Somewhere here I saw a link to a tutorial for how to make a spinning thingy from cd-spindles, you know - to make yarn.

"That's my lab table and this is my work-stool. And over there is my intergalactic spaceship! And here's where I keep assorted lengths of wire."

...oh, if it wasn't clear, I'm rarely completely serious. Smiley
