Where the heck is MY easy bake oven!

Hi. I wanted to share what I have been doing to combat some winter boredom.
It is a sunflower pillow.....

I was shooting for Van Gogh's Sunflowers but this is how it turned out. Some of it was machine sewn and some hand sewn applique.
I pretty much recyled an old pillow that was falling apart by taking it apart and using the stuffing. I made the "pillow" part from some fabric from an old duvet cover that we dont use anymore. The flower part is actually a pillow cover so I can take it off and wash it.
T-shirt knit fabric is great. It doesn't unravel and it is really easy to work with. It was also free as I have a ton of old t-shirts to use. I am in the process of another pillow and will keep you posted.
Hope you all like it.

Wow! I'm impressed. This is absolutely gorgeous. I'm also impressed by your use of recycled materials. It's a little work of art!

I instantly thought Van Gogh when I saw this, so I think you did a pretty fantastic job. Smiley Textured applique is always a lot of fun, in my opinion. I really like how you did the block, blue background also!

Why, sometimes I've believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast.

Great job, I really like this!  I love the flower across the bottom!

As others have said, great job.  You've more patience than I can muster at this point.  My attempt would have most likely ended up as random bits and pieces stuffed into another 'I'll get to it later' bag.   I really enjoy the 3D effect of the petals.  I'll also echo the 'yay! recycling' sentiment.

With something like that, do you typically build the flowers and "objects" separately and then sew finished pieces on, or do you sew each petal, stem, etc onto the "background"?  I've tried doing piecework stuff like this in the past but always lose interest or get frustrated with things not lining up.  Maybe it's my approach - I've tried both ways.
