Robin's got the right idea Smiley  Some swaps work in order of claiming like that, where the last person to post has to be claimed by the next person to keep the train moving.  Many other ongoing swaps are free-style where anyone can claim from anyone else.  I believe all swaps have a limit on how many claims you can make, like you can only have 2 or 3 outstanding claims made, and those people have to say they received your items to free up spots for you to keep claiming up to 2 or 3 again.

STS has a 7 point limit where you have to 'close your shop' (aka put a notice on your list of items you have to offer that you are closed for claiming right now) and 'go shopping' (aka claim from other people's shops) with the points you have from people 'buying' (aka claiming) stuff from your shop until you have 5 or less and are allowed to 'reopen' (remove the CLOSED notice off your shop) and start taking more claims.  And the circle goes on and on...

would we do it as a list like the ATC/Inchie/Wish list swaps (like Robin explained) , or would we do it STS style, with ones we've finished posted or fabric we have available to make more from?

I quite like the idea of an STS style swap.

I quess it sounds good, but like some of the others, I've never done a claim before. So I quess I'll have to learn because I want to make & receive more patches. They are so addicting!! By the way this may be stupid but what is a STS?

I've never done a Shop The Swap before, so I'm leaning towards claiming in a chain Wink That way you can post your list of themes and get different patches made to suit you Cheesy

I think the next round will be ongoing - essentially you partner yourselves, so I just keep track of who has posted and is due to post. It would be chain style, I feel they are more fair than the claim anyone style ones like the birthday swaps. Anyone who wants to do a STS style, may I suggest joining STS with a patch shop?

If we like, I can start the next one for Feb... unless anyone else want to organise this time? I'm happy to hand over reins if someone else would like a turn. Just as happy to keep doing it too, though I'll be a little more busy next month, with school going back and Nerd Wars starting back on Ravelry too.

I've never understoon how the on-going swaps work.  Would one of you explain it or pm me if it doesn't belong here. I might be interested as way to keep me motivated on my little TM project.
Don't worry, waggonswest- I don't get them either. I mean, I kind of do, but not altogether really. I'm the type of person who can read directions for something a million times and never get it, but if someone shows me once or twice, I usually pick it up very easily.
I'm absolutely terrified to try an ongoing swap.  Embarrassed

I got patches from a personal swap with GoldenSunshine. She sent me ones for my DU wall hanging. (I'm going with a wall hanging). She made a duck head one for the wall hanging. A super cute hedge hog. Love him! The heart buttons are polymer clay buttons. Thanks so much for the great patches.  This isn't the best photo, but it's dark here and by golly I am going to be sewing them on tonight and wrapping this project up ASAP. Will post the completed photo early next week.

I am up for an ongoing swap. Then you can do as many or as few as you want to.

STS = Shop The Swap. I'll never understand them. I have a hard enough time remembering what I'm doing right now, never mind keeping all that information sorted!

Thanks "craftylittlemonkey" that helps, I could maybe do the chain one that sounds easier than the STS one. I'll try it once then I'll see! Thanks again!!

"GoldenSunshine" The Duck & the hedge hog are ao cute & making your own buttons that's great!!! They all are great!!  Cheesy Can't wait to see what your bag is going to look like, "krismith"!! Wink
