I made this wall hanging for my mum not so long ago, its a three colour stencil of wasps. I cut them out of paper and used housepaints to paint them! I printed them on a cheap tab top curtain I found. The trick to multi coloured stencils I think, is to put the lighter colours first. If anyone is interested in knowing how to do them I could put a tutorial together.

Here are a few other multi coloured stencils, i printed them onto some ready made canvases. I used the same stencil but with different colours on each canvas. The feathers are a seperate 5 layer stencil repeated all over the canvas, then the body and head of the peacock is another stencil, painted over the top of all the feathers. It was a bit time consuming, but I think the effect is pretty good. I used old xrays to cut out the stencils. They are plastic and hold their shape really well and last forever!

Thanks kimmykat! I'm pretty naughty, and go spraying stencils around the neighbourhood sometimes. I thought it might be nice to be more productive with it!

wow! you are really good at stencilling..but doesn't the fabric gets really hard? i made a 2 layered stencil and the fabric is like stone!

..do you sometimes have the feeling...you gotta pee?..but.. don't feel like peeing?....
so you just don't?

The fabric does get a little hard, but its ok, because I havent used it for clothing. Just for wall hangings and stuff. I guess if I was to try a multi coloured stencil for clothing i'd have a go at sraying it with spray paint, to use less paint. Lighter colours first, then finally black. Or fabric paint might be a bit softer and more flexible?

I love the peacocks.  Where do you get old x-rays?
