just make double ended wool dreads, braid them in for about 4 cm and attach with a little bit of string or a  tiny elastic (very easy for removing them and they stay atached really well)... And show us what it ends up looking like!!

Those links are fabulous!!  Thanks!!!  Now I'm thinkin' maybe I need some hot pink & lime green ones!  I want to hook them to my scalp.  I know I don't want mine any longer than they already are!  I like the idea of just sewing them on!  Anyone know the reason they use synthetic hair over a natural wool?  Wool to sheepy for them?

Thanks!  When I started my dreads my hair was about 2 inches long.  It took probably 3-4 years for my dreads to reach shoulder length.  After that they grow super fast!  I think the weight of them really helps to lengthen them.  I actually miss my chin length dreads.  They were so cute and lightweight, but at the time, I too, couldn't wait to have them long!

Thanks for the kind words of encouragement! haha.
I just moved into a new place and while I was sorting through all of my junk boxes I stumbled upon a picture of me, my mom, and my brother that was taken during the winter months... My dreads were so short!!! They were just above my chin... and now they are almost touching my shoulders (well I have a few dreads that touch my shoulders). They've grown at least 2 inches of lenght since december... which is definately more than I could ever ask for! I'm definately convinced that the vitamins I was taking at the time (Melaleuca) had something to do with it.
I personally think that the greatest thing about dreads is looking back on old pictures and really seeing how much they've changed... you learn to have this great amount of patience and understanding and you hardly notice the months fly then all of a sudden you look back in shock at the changes... makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside. Really does.  Cheesy

another dumb question- can you cut dreadlocks, or do they just grow out forever?

haha yeah you could cut dreadlocks. There never is a dumb question.... Most people just don't know and are usually afraid to ask. Never be afraid to ask.

You never really hear people talking about cutting dreads because they take so long to grow they most likely won't have to cut them for quite some time. But if you want to keep them at a certain lenght heck yeah take those scissors out baby.
