So I have to buy not one, but two birthday presents for a pair of seventeen year-olds, and I have no idea what to do!  For the first, I was thinking of putting together a mix CD and maybe throwing together a tote bag or something, but the second one just has me stumped.  I don't really know what her taste in music is, and I would make her something she can wear but I don't know her size, and I couldn't possibly find out without being found out myself.  I was thinking of making something edible, like marzipan mice, but wouldn't you know it, she's allergic to everything.  So here's my question: what do you get seventeen year-old girl who can't eat dairy, eggs, or chocolate without spending a lot of money, and keeping in mind that I only have a little over a week to get everything together?
I would really really appreciate any kind of suggestions!  Please!  SOS!

Almost, but not quite, entirely unlike tea

Think about looking for vegan recipes... or get her/make her a hat or something.  The tote bag idea sounds lovely... or maybe a little drawstring backpack.  Those are easy.  What about jewelry to match the bag?

jewelry is a good idea, and maybe if you make a purse to put it in.

do you know her favourite movie or tv show? you could make a bag and put quotes on it.

you could get a pretty book, get pics of famous people he likes, or of her friends and family for the cover and then put little quotes in every couple of pages

i did the last for a friend (who turned 16) and she loves it.

Giftcards to stores where anyone can find stuff like Target or Old Navy. I'm seventeen and I know I'm impossible to shop for, let alone craft for, and I don't even have any food allergies!

check out my portfolio and blog at www.creatureswitheyes.com

I'm in the mood for a personal swap, anyone want a hat?

When my niece turned 16 a put together a little photo album of her life. I had tons of pictures and her mom gave me a lot more. I also put some quotes in it from people I knew she liked and some astrology stuff about her sign. It only took me a few nights after work.

But I'm close to her and know what she likes and I had all the pictures and everything.

I like the jewlery, bag, hat suggestions; stuff she could wear where size isn't an issue.

I know someone on this site is making their friend a Napolean Dynamite themed messenger bag.  She's ironing on the face of Napolean Dynamite, getting or making some Napolean keychains and pins, and maybe writing some classic ND quotes all over the bag.  If she has a favorite tv show, movie, celebrity, book, etc. that you know of you could make her something like that.

Horrah for quotes! Cheesy
