Being stuck on the sofa recovering for the last few weeks I've needed projects which haven't involved much movement, and this one was perfect! I could lay everything out next to me to do the cutting and, once the letters had been sewn on using the machine, sit and stitch to my hearts-content!

I'm not entirely sure what inspired me to start it. Desperation for something to do mixed with painkillers I guess...a winning combination for random projects! Cheesy

Anyway, here's the result...a fun fabric alphabet wallhanging! A lot of fun to make, albeit very time consuming, and a great stash-buster! (...apart from the embroidery thread I had to send out for Cheesy)

The whole piece

This wall hanging is so wonderful! The letters being so perfect against all the hand stitching makes it so eclectic feeling. Coupled with the mix of fabrics, makes it a favorite of your work. Maybe you should do painkillers more often. Wink

Such good work and I love the colors and font! It looks like it could be one of those license plate art pieces, but sooooo much cooler because it's stitched!

Great work!  It looks really good with the dark furniture that I see there.

Wow, thank you for all your lovely comments! Grin

I love it! What a wonderful take on a classic. I can't see how you joined the squares though, did you use a hidden stitch?
Thanks! Each letter panel was whip stitched to each other.

The action shot is my favorite!!!

 Tongue

I put the panels facing each other and then do tiny whip stitches along the edges. I prefer to do that because they're so small and even the back looks good! I should have taken a piccy of that too. I almost like the backs as much as the fronts Cheesy

This is a wonderful creation! I love the colored letters against the dark background. It works so well!

When you sewed the letters on, did you leave the edges raw or did you turn them under?

Thanks! I left the edges raw so it adds to the scrappy effect. It was in danger of becoming too neat otherwise...and I tend to shy away from neat Cheesy
