So, it's that time of year again, and I'm in full swing getting prepared for a craft show and holiday presents! I free-hand, my husband cuts, and I hand paint them. I have only sold a handful of these, and this year I already have 16 pre-orders APART from the craft show projects and 2 quilts I have to make! Whew, I'll be a busy, busy girl. My question to all of you lovely, talented crafters is: How much should I charge for these?! I am currently charging $12 a foot (at the highest OR widest) and $14/ft for more complicated ones. Sometimes I feel like I'm over-charging, but most of the time I feel like I'm under-charging. Sigh. Decisions.  Huh

i looked on etsy.com and alot of people sell them between 20-40 dollars, depending on size and detail...there were a few for like 70 bucks with a nightmare before christmas scene painted on it (it was just a headstone shaped cutout painted). the ones for about 20 were single pumpkins as well. id say 25-40 dollars wouldnt be asking too much(thats about what my parents used to sell this stuff for..though it does depend on size) if you want to raise the price. for a base price when in doubt calculate the cost of wood/paint then add like 10$/hour it takes to make it and youd have your price.

They are beautiful!
I especially love the one with the cat. It is gorgeous

You are not overcharging!
Think of all the work (and love and dedication) that goes into them.
You are not even paying yourself minimum wages.

Don't compare the prices of your unique handmade items with those mass-produced plastic ones. You are not a 'factory' and you serve a different market!

Thank y'all so much! I really enjoy making them and making people happy with something I know they'll take home and LOVE, you know? I appreciate the comment about serving a different market. I never thought of it that way. It makes it easier to price something. lol. Tiffi, the top one is almost three ft tall and the cat/pumpkin is about 20 inches at the longest. These took me forever, since I was just getting back into the swing of painting them, and I'm a detail perfectionist. The $10 an hour might not be fair for those since they'd cost way too much! lol. But I DO sell quilts for that price, thanks to anoter great tip from a lovely craftster lady.
