The Ongoing Tarot Card Swap~October 2011!!

Welcome!! This is a simple and easy swap, with your level of participation determined entirely by you.  Smiley

The tarot cards you make must be 4x6 inches. It is assumed that we are all using the Universal Rider-Waite deck for card meanings/symbolism - unless you specify differently in your personal preferences on your claim post.

A regular size greeting card envelope should be big enough to fit your card but be sure to put it in between some thicker pieces of card stock or cardboard so that it doesn't get ruined during the shipping process (remember the extra weight may change the shipping price slightly).

Please put your 'artist info' on the card. Twenty years from now we want to know who made such a beautiful card!

Discussion thread: Questions and discussion can be posted here.

Current Gallery: post photos of your received tarot cards here!

When sending send/receive notifications to the swap organizer, there are four pieces of information that must be included about each tarot card.  What are they?  (Scroll down in the swap info under this questionnaire to the area "Once you have sent or received a card"; the answer is in red.)

*Everyone is welcome and encouraged to join this swap!  Sign-ups are open until the end of September--YAY!  PM me the above questionnaire to get started, and please wait to be accepted into the swap before making any claims.  Please make sure you are not late or flakey in any of your other swaps.*

Claims are made throughout the signup/claim period of the swap.  You have two weeks from the time you make a claim to send that claim.

You can make as many (or as few) claims as you want throughout the month as long as you never go over your allowed amount of outstanding claims. (An outstanding claim is a card that has not been received; when that card is received your number of outstanding claims goes down leaving you open to bring it back up to 5 or 8.)

Posting QUALITY photos of received tarot cards is a requirement of this swap.  Smiley

1. Claims are made using the following procedure:

Person A (the swap organizer) will begin the swap by posting a list of themes in this swap thread.
Person B will choose a theme from one of A's themes and make a claim by posting his/her own list (see below for formatting of post).
Person C will make a claim on one of B's themes and post his/her own list.
Person D will make a claim on one of C's themes and post his/her own list etc...
This continues through the end of the month, when the swap organizer makes the final claim and closes out the claiming part of the swap.

2. How many claims can be made by each individual:

The number of claims each person is allowed depends on the following criteria:
*Friends of Craftster: 8 claims
*Those who aren't Friends of Craftster: 5 claims
*First time swappers (whether Friends of Craftster or not): 1 claim.  Once the initial claim has been sent, and its new owner has reported it received, the first time swapper is free to make more claims, either 5 or 8 dependent on being an FOC or not.

3. How to make a claim:

A claim post should include the following information:
1. The theme you are choosing and who youre sending it to.
2. Statistical info about your current swap claims status:

~Claims= Claims currently outstanding (ie., how many not yet received by their new owners.) (This number goes down each time a claim is received, and up each time you make a claim.)
~Sent= anything currently in the mail.
~Received= the cards received by the people you've sent them to.

3. Your location.
4. Your personal preferences.
5. Your list of themes

I claim RandomCraftsterMember for heffalumps/woosels tarot card.

3 claims, 2 sent, 1 received

I live in Massachusetts, USA.  I would prefer not to receive anything violent, political, or religious.

My themes are:
1)   sneezing
2)   purple people eaters
3)   wandering men of grief
4)   jumping jehosophats
5)   birds in hats

1. Send a personal message to the person you have claimed and request their address
2. You have 2 weeks to complete each card, and have it in the mail to its new owner.  Smiley

1. Please PM the organizer when you send or receive a card.  (It's also good to notify the person you received from or are sending to.)
2.  Label the message as Ongoing Tarot Card swap October--Sent or Ongoing Tarot Card Swap October--Received (or some variant of that)
3.  Be sure and include (1) the "send by" date, as well as (2) the theme and (3) who sent it to (4) whom, in each email to the tarot card swap organizer, when you're referring to sent or received tarot cards.  That's four pieces of important information that make my life as a swap organizer OH so easy!

For example, you could use this format:

I sent some tarot cards today!

Send by 12/16:
squire_inaria ---> randomswapper = fantasy theme

Send by 12/17:
squire_inaria ---> craftstermember = nature theme
squire_inaria ---> tarotfan101 = yet another fascinating theme

This lets the organizer easily access the swap info, so it can be updated.

It is OH so important to post pictures of the amazing cards you receive!  This is the best way in the world to let it be known how special it is that you've received a wonderful treasure of someone else's creativity!

Please post pictures/scans of your received cards in the gallery (or make arrangements with your partner to do so).

Positive feedback will be given when all of the tarot cards you sent have been received.   Good communication is always cool!  And be sure and post those pictures in the gallery!

If you have any questions please post them in the discussion thread or PM the organizer.  This thread is specifically for claims only.

Thanks to beckashell for this amazing "about claiming" post!

The October round is now open for claiming!

0 claims/0 sent/0 received

I'm Sara, the swap organizer, from Fort Worth, TX

For this round I'm going to try to get as much Major Arcana together as I can so that would be my preference, but if you have a great idea for another card that's cool too. Since I can only use one of a particular card at a time it would be great if you could let me know which card you're claiming for. I want to be able to use all my pretties at once!

Themes I'd love:
~Gypsy/Belly dance
~Celestial/Moon and Stars
~Mythical creatures
~Fairy tales (altered or regular)
~Artist's choice

Cards I've received/have been claimed for: High Priestess, Star, Death, Chariot, Moon, Lovers, Fool, Empress

I swap, you swap, we all swap! I love personal swaps (and I make poppets!) Smiley

Wist-y goodness

I claim Squire_inaria for masks / masquerades for the Emperor.

1 claim, 1 sent, 0 received.

Hi, I'm Jessica from Denver, CO.  I'm very excited to swap!

My themes are:
1. Egypt
2. Seasons
3. Gambling
4. Horses
5. Artists Choice

I too would prefer Major Arcana, but if you have a fantastic idea for one of the minor Arcana let me know!  I have no cards so far, so it's artists choice.

I claim Dark Desires for the Chariot in the themes of Seasons

1 claim/0 sent/0 received

Hi, I'm Laura Smiley I'm from Germany, so you'd probably have to send internationally. I hope you don't mind. I'm really looking forward to swapping here!

I would like cards in the themes of:
- Fairytales
- Fantasy (myths as well as modern novels)
- Discworld
- Gothic
- Owls or Wolves
- Middle Ages
- Artist's choice

I haven't been claimed for any card yet and I plan on decorating my room with them, so I wouldn't mind receiving the same card twice. I would also appreciate Major and Minor Arcana alike.

Note: I won't have access to the Internet for a week, so in order to get my address you'll have to pm squire_inaria.

Humans need fantasy to be human. To be the place where the falling angel meets the rising ape.
