I've been muddling this idea around in my head for a bit, so I thought I'd see if there are any takers out there! I love homemade, beautiful stickers/paper doo-dads, and I spend far too much $ on non-homemade ones at the craft stores. So how about a small swap where we create artsy, custom stickers or fun accents and send them along?

Custom sticky/doo-dad swap ideas:
-Hand drawn stickers
-Sticky inchies, etc.
-sticky collage sheets
-stamped images made into stickers
-photos made into transfers/stickers
-3D stickable embellishments
-decorated tags
-die cuts
-paper flowers

The possibilities are sort of endless. But my vision for the swap is that you could fill one of those little 5x7 (or whatever that size is) brown envelopes, and that could be altered for people who want to do a little more or a little less. And you wouldn't have to spend an arm and a leg to ship it. And then you'd have some pretty sweet, handmade accents for your projects that are way cooler than the craft stores sell.

Please feel free to add to the list of ideas! Grin

Sounds pretty interesting...but i dunno how to make stickers Tongue *shoot me*
I've tried making some using a you tube video that said to mix glue and vinegar together and brush it on the paper, let dry and put a weight on it to keep it from curling. Well, am not sure my 'stickers' came out right

That is interesting -- I've never heard of that process before.  Glue and vinegar, hmm...

For making your own stickers or stickables, I was thinking that a lot of people have the Xyron sticker makers, do a lot of stuff with their computers/printers, or can make 3-Dish embellishments that can stick on with those double sided stick ons that you can get at the craft stores. And I'm sure there are more ideas out there too -- those were just the things that came to my mind!

This sounds fun - I've got tons of punches, large and small.

As for stickers, you can buy label sheets at the office supply store - they come in many sizes and colors, from address label size to package label size. And you can find round ones too. There may even be giant one-sheet stickers. And I did find once (but still looking for another) a package of 8.5" x 11" post-it sheet - so the entire back is sticky. It has release paper on the back, like contact paper, but the front/paper is almost as thick as card stock. I think it is Post-It Note brand, 3M?

And what about plain, white contact paper. You could lightly sand, and then paint and stamp. And cut to size?

This sounds like fun... I always called those paper doodads Page Candy because they can be put on Scrapbook pages and dress it up.
I'm still new to this website, so won't be able to swap until at least mid January, but I'd love to get in on this swap.
Also, the best comparison I can think of for Paper Doodad is  Jolee's by EK Success, where they use lots of ribbons, bling, and dimension. Actually, I look to those for ideas all the time

This is similar to what I was talking about:

http://www.amazon.com/Post-Sticky-Removable-Labels-2500-L/dp/B002K9M60Q

The pack I got was 5 or 6 sheets in different colors. I printed them and made labels for all my craft stuff.
I will add another link if I find it. I bought them at Flax Art, if there's one near you.

Isn't there peel & stick where you put a whole bunch of pics or doodles or cut out pics from magazines etc, & peel off the back & stick it on things. There must be something easy & cheap to make at home. Have to look it up. But sounds fun.

This sounds like a fun swap, especially if it's not just limited to stickers? Any thing out of paper seems neat to me, I've been obsessed with paper jewelry lately

sounds like it could be fun - depending on timing.

stickers paniced me a bit - don't have any of the sticker/embossing/cutting machines, but then thought - double sided tape! we've got some that is a couple of inches wide - think its sold as carpet tape, but I use it for all sorts of crafting, including doll house stuff.

In my opinion, if it's sticky, it would work! Smiley  (Preferably not pre-chewed bubble gum or something like that though. ha!)

If there is interest in this swap, I will see about getting it started in January.  Would that timing work for you gals?

Here's a few ideas from Etsy that I found that might get your juices flowing -- I am in no way meaning to do any advertising here. I have no clue who these sellers are, I'm just admiring their sticker techniques!

Fancy hand-cut stickers:

Funny images on stickers:

Hand cut, hand stamped stickers could use sticker dots on the back, run through a Xyron, you name it!

I think you could find blank round stickers at an office supply store and have fun decorating those -- and it would work with mailling lables, folder labels, what have you:

Ephemera stickers:

Fabric masking tape no clue how to make this, but Im intrigued!
