So the munchkin and I got brave and decided to hand paint some bamboo this past weekend.  Bamboo is sooo slippery & I was really nervous about trying to handle it enough to hand paint it instead of just dying it one shade by immersing it.  I only had one braid pull apart on me so I'm proud of myself and I think the colors are much better with the hand painting.  If you haven't tried hand painting you should!  I love it because my 3 year old can wield a little squirt bottle like nobody's business around fiber, and it's FUN (read messy) for us to do together.  Course she loses interest when the dye is gone each time, I'm on my own for the drying, braiding, and labeling, lol.

Each braid is a little over one ounce so I can get alot of color movement in each one.

My two favorites!

Hope you enjoy the eye candy!

Haha Puppy_girl, we bought the house next door to my mom & my grandparents so occasionally when I have roving hanging on my patio drying "someone" reaches right over about 100 yards of yard and helps themself to some, lol.

So I probably wouldn't notice if you did, I try not to count them until I put tags on and bring them back in the house.   Roll Eyes

Woohoo Bootchacka! I'll be hitting the post office in the morning to send you some bamboo love!   Smiley You'll LOVE them, bamboo is my favorite fiber to play with although it takes a different skill set to dye it than wool, lol.

Maybe if I get braver I'll make a bamboo painting tutorial.  Not sure if there is much interest though.

OMG these are amazing! I love the first picture, all those jewel tones are gorgeous.

"You listen to metal and knit?"
"Yea, so?"
"I don't know, just seems a little out of the ordinary"
"Who said I was ordinary?"
