hello craft-babies! Here's an ugly coffe table (i don't have "before" pics but take my word for it) that I transformed using "the cards." Very easy: Painted said table black. Glued down layer of newspaper (just for added pattern to show between cards) then taped down cards in chosen pattern and used some clear matte-medium brushed over the top with an old credit card (so no brush marks would show). Sorry if pics are a little blurry - i don't have the steadiest hand!

treasure maps! (i'm totally replying to all of your posts by the way)

get a map, the older looking the better, or maybe even try to find some to print out online. soak them in tea, let em dry. cut out shapes and or burn the edges. mod podge!

another option would be to skip the tea step and use a tinted laquer once you've stuck em on the table.

Thanks for the feedback everyone!

I've already started the search for nautical maps...I was thinking of printing them out on newsprint and then drawing over them (an old north-south compass maybe) with pen and ink...we'll see - I'll keep you posted.

it really was very easy - i was debating not having the cards so carefully laid out and instead kind of throwing them down and gluing them where they land...that could have been an interesting look

You could even set them up like you're giving a reading (make sure the reading is a good one since it will be forever there)!

make sure to post pics!

the tarot card table is fantastic!

and yeah, it'd be cool to have some sort of a map on the barrel table.

On the barrel table, you could get some thick rope and wrap it around the base. That seems very piratey to me.

out of town until July 10th...I will respond to any messages then.
