I've been trying to cut back from wearing black all of the damn time and incorporate colors & prints back into my life. I love that "matchy-matchy" garments are played and mixing prints is accepted.

The skirt is $1 fabric that I bought from Walmart over a year ago and the top is African fabric that I bought about 6 years ago that I was always afraid to use until now. Both garments were both hella easy to make and I look forward to making more skirts & crop tops like these! Hope ya'll like!

Thx for looking!

Those look so much fun to wear.  I love the top especially and like how the skirt picks up the orange in the top.  It is a lovely outfit - and you can still wear black with either the top or the skirt if you ever want to Wink Thanks for the pictures.

I love that you mix your prints!  It makes dressing so much more interesting...like a quilt! Wink

The top print is fabulous...glad you finally used it...it would have been a shame just having it sit around!

Your earrings and shoes really compliment your entire new outfit...

can you tell us more about how the top is made?

Ooh, it's so pretty!  I love the mix of prints, you did it perfectly!  And the skirt fits so well!  Fitted skirts can be so tricky, but yours looks great!  I'd also be really interested in how you made the top.  It's really flattering.

Very cute and sassy outfit! I really like the fabric you used for the top, I have a dress made out of a similar African print that I love Wink

Happy Birthday!

Thx everybody!
My top is nothing but a rectangle with a drawstring around the bottom hem. Since it was so boxy, I decided to tuck the front part under my bra and use a small piece of scrap fabric to tie the middle front to my bra to bring it in and show some cleavage!

You look amazingly stylish! I swear, I've seen an outfit almost exactly like that in a runway shot somewhere, or maybe on Net-a-Porter or Polyvore! You are super inspiring Cheesy
