I'm on a little honeymoon trip to Austin Texas, and loving it here!  I can really feel the punk influence all over downtown and I got inspired to make this.. but I can't decide on what colors to use..
I am using a blue work shirt for the background, about the color shown here.

I feel like.. it needs something else???  Maybe a banner with the word 'forever', or 'Texas'...

Very cool-I like it the way it is. If you are doing it on a blue shirt, just black would be very cool, maybe do the star in red?

On your honeymoon! A woman after my own heart!! How about a bright, varigated thread with a bit of metallic bling shot thru it? As to what it might need; how about in a color just off of the background a ribbon with the phrase "God Bless Texas" repeated a few times?

I'd do a darkish royal blue for the state outline, a bright red for the anarchy symbol, varying shades darker reds for "ustin" and then a little pop of gold for the star. That is just me though Smiley

I got busy with some markers and made a few sketches...

Ohyeth, those are more or less the colors I used, but in different places.  I did a bright burnt orange state outline, and then the anarchy symbol in dark navy blue and the rest of 'Austin' in a dark royal blue.   Grin

I made another sketch that is EXACTLY what you suggested, but haven't embroidered it yet.  And for the star, I used a star sequin (about 3/4") that is silver.

I'm going to embroider a few more and then maybe I'll do a showoff thread.  Smiley

I want to add a ribbon that says 'Texas' or 'got weird' or something, but haven't added it to my pattern yet, so I didn't do it.
I do want to try one that is all one color, also.. or monochromatic... Didn't take me that long to do, either, maybe 4 hours start to finish?  I'm slow, this is only my second project ever, so I expected it to take daaaaaays LOL.
