Here's a piece I just finished.  It took several hours over each of the past 3 days.
The whole intent of making this was just to practice setting the stones. Plus, I had a chance to break out my ever-growing bead stash!
This is a 4-inch hoop. I didn't plan to fill it in solid with beads, but once I got started ; I couldn't help myself!  It was really fun just to see how the beads looked next to the acrylic stones. Besides the 3 small rounds, there are 6 other shapes present. Several measure up to an inch in length or width.
I left some of the bezel stitching showing on purpose, as I was experimenting with several stitching methods.  There was no glue used in this sampler.
I am happy with the lack of any real design, my purpose was simply to fill in space; but I pulled the beads over to swirl towards the next color. The stitched bezel methods will be detailed in a tutorial I am writing presently.
Comments and questions welcome!

Thanks for looking!

This is beautiful!! I can't believe you didn't have a design in mind while making it!

That is so beautiful.  If this is what you do for practice I can't wait to see what you do when you are in earnest!  I love the colours and the way the small beads swirl from one part of the the design to another.  Looking forward to the tutorial when you get around to it. Many thanks for showing us this.

Good idea! I've been meaning to try embroidery with cabochons.

This is absolutely gorgeous!  I just learned how to do shisha mirrors, so I can't wait to see your tutorial for the cabochons.  And besides that, have I mentioned gorgeous!?

When I saw the thumbnail, I totally had an "ooooh, shiny!" moment Smiley. This is beautiful.

Whatever happened to the ongoing hoopla swaps?

Thanks For all the compliments! I took that photo on my scanner, I wished it came out a little lighter. The scanner light played down the brightness of the
stones.   I'm writing an instruction manual to go with some kits I'm designing.
I'll post some of the techniques when I work up some decent sketches!
I put the hoop over my desk, with the hoops from the Hoopla Swap I was in last year. It's hypnotizing!
