This pattern was so much fun to sew...no zipper, over the head with a waist-stay and ties in the front.

oh wow! I love that dress so much and the fabric that you used! Was is a hard pattern to make? For a beginner would I have trouble with it?

That looks fantastic, I love the fabric. I've been meaning to try one of the Vintage Vogue patterns for a while now. What do you mean when you say it's different to a modern pattern?

Well, as for the difference...there is no zipper, it requires more hand sewing, it has a waist stay( which is like a belt that fits inside your dress but is attatched to a part of the dress and it keeps everything in place) which is not really used today except in couture clothing or bridal.
Also with the vintage patterns a lot of the dresses are made to look like a top and skirt or a jacket and skirt. They were really keen on everthing staying in place...I think that's why you see more dresses and less separates?
