So, about a week ago I was doing my usual craftster lurking and I came upon a wonderful tutorial by UrbanThreads (https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=386002.0) and I knew that I had found the gift I was looking for to make one of my best friends. So this is my take, which is actually pretty similar but hers rocks so what do you expect Smiley

Of course I've never been taught to sew, and I never attempt to make the seams look at all nice so I got myself in over my head. But! I had so much fun I ended up making one for myself...of course...and learned a lot about dyeing and seaming!

I picked up 2 yards of very white solid knit, and this is what I came up with!

my fancy dancy piece (with pockets! because who doesn't need more pockets?)

the back with the v of lace, which I was so scared to sew but it doesn't look quite as puckery in real life...I hope Smiley

here is her vest after dyeing, which I was a little disappointed about because of the lack of color...

the color is pretty spot on here, not much to it but it's grown on me

I added pockets and lace to mine (which is supposed to be scarlet, but instead is a very coral orange) because of extra time and I am definitely adding a back of white lace to hers. I loved making these and I am definitely excited to try more clothing projects now.

thanks for looking!

I actually like the white vest more without the lace, but that might be because I live in a colder climate!

Look twice, buy once. Nooooo
Look twice, decide I can make one instead.

I really like these I love the twisty spiral like effect you get on the front part on the bottom , and I like the different variations
