So at Christmas time, my sister and I transformed my daughter's room from a junky heap into a fun, relaxing pre-teen room.  It was so much fun to create and see everything come together as the transformation happened.  The furniture and accesories in the room all cost less than $150 as we got some of it free, from thrift stores and yard sales.

My mom made the quilt for her!!!

Her reaction:

It was amazing to do this, so exciting.  She loves it and has kept it clean since!  That is all we were aiming for, a place for her to be proud of and be herself in!

Great room!  I love that quilt.  The wall that has the circles on it, is that fabric on the wall?  I love the color combo.

Too bad I don't hear voices, I would enjoy the company

That's awesome. And she clearly agrees. I mean, what kid that age keeps their room clean? The ones that appreciate the heck out of their awesome room. Kudos!

Great job! How did you keep her out of the way long enough? And where did all the clutter go?

It is better to have crafted and failed then never to have crafted at all.
Yes, I am stalking the Toys and Playthings board. Thanks for noticing!
I'm cheating on Craftster with Pinterest. It's ok though. There's overlap.

She was at her mom's house during the week so my sister and I got it done while she was gone then surprised her when she got here on the weekend.  The clutter has been relocated to closet, reorganized on bookshelf, some to thrift store, some on freecycle and other stuff to the trash.

Thanks everyone, we had fun with it and she loves it which is what really matters.
