I have just recently reopened my etsy shop and I have someone who wants to buy an item but they are in Singapore. I have never shipped outside of the US and Canada and was wondering how I should ship it. I want to be protected if the package was to get lost. I offered to send priority mail but they wanted to know if I could send it cheaper and use first class international. Is this okay to do? Can I or should I get insurance? I appreciate any help, thanks.  Smiley

Every package I've ever sent outside of Ontario (my province of residence), I've made sure to buy insurance, and high-value stuff I always ship by express (which includes insurance and tracking). Insurance is only a few dollars, and if the package is lost, I can recoup the value of the contents.

How does first class international work? CAN you buy insurance? If yes, I'd go for it and just let them know you need to include that in the shipping cost. Otherwise, offer to send it via the cheapest method for which insurance is available. That way you won't get burned should the package disappear.

Thanks!  Grin I don't see an option for insurance for anything other than priority, only certificate of delivery. I guess I will ask at the P.O. when I go today just to make sure. Thanks for the help! Grin
