I've been working on projects for the VBS kids at church this week.  We are always operating on a shoe string, as much because we love the challenge of upcycling, re-using and creating our own craft ideas around the published curriculum.  We love the activities that come with the usual kits, but the crafts are pretty weak.  Foamies are fun and convenient, but they really aren't anything to treasure and who knows how they will affect the photos and other papers stored with them over time?  So we usually invent our own crafts based on the theme.

Well, I can only sit an stare at the machine sewing the same panda patch and puppets for so long before my mind wonders...  next think you know, I am stealing hubbies old jeans and imaging merit badges for MY summer camp.  I always wanted a badge for sandcastles.  Bird watching is pretty traditional.  Camp should be more fun than a barrel full of monkeys.  And the counselors... I am quite sure they earn their own badge!

Sandcastles, barrel of monkeys, wine and cardinal.

The details... they are all about 2" in the largest dimension.  The patterns are all from emblibrary.com. They are stitched out on upcycled denim.

LOL!  Love them!  The possibilities are just endless . . .

These really made me smile  Grin
