Flowers in full bloom do not last forever!

A while back I took the plunge and made myself a lolita skirt. I made on before but made a mistake so it turned out a bit less poofy than I would have liked.
I worked a whole weekend on this one.
The fabric is cotton and there's about 3 m of it in there. The pattern is a basic rectangle, gathered at the top.
Everything is sewn by machine but I did all the gathering, ruffling and hemming by hand...
and offcourse after that I discovered a hemming foot in my mothers sewing case. Roll Eyes
This was my first time inserting a invisible zipper and it turned out not that difficult as I expected, so I'm happy about that ^^.
It's a bit big but I can solve that with waistties, although when I went back to buy some more fabric, somebody had bought the whole roll T_T

I'd love to know what you think of my first try at a lolita skirt ^^

Quite nice, actually! Simple, good fabric pattern and nicely finished. Lace couldn't hurt it, but it wouldn't do that much, either.

That's really nice. I always mess up basic rectangle skirts because I drastically underestimate how much fabric I need (twice the size of my waist? That's plenty right? ---- Ha.Ha.No.). Is that the problem you had with your previous version?

Also, kudos on the invisible zipper. I was terrified of them for so long but then I watched a tutorial on Burda Style and facepalmed - Why was I not always doing this?! I recently started and I can say: there is nothing to be afraid of. It's so easy!

Thankyou all ^^ Will start my next skirt soon!

@Renato: Yes that was the problem I had. I did 1.5 times my waist which didn't turn out right for a lolita silhouette. But it's a cute summer skirt so ^^
