The roller derby league I belong to was in the Duck Tape parade this year so I thought it was a perfect excuse to make the duck tape dress I always wanted to make!

I started out with this blue dress I found at the thrift store....

Then I covered it in red duck tape.

At this point, I tried it on and was very upset that it would no longer zipper.  I think by putting the tape on the dress it took away all the elasticity.  My mom came up with the idea of cutting the sides and putting in triangles to widen it around the hips/butt where it was too tight.  So...if you attempt to do this...I would buy a size bigger dress!  Or maybe stretch the dress when putting the tape on.

I really wanted to include the logo and skates.  So, first I attempted making a stencil out of regular duck tape using plastic wrap (and then later wax paper) as the backing of the sticker.  But that failed miserably.  Then I remembered seeing the new duck tape sheets at JoAnns.  So, the next day I went out and go those and it worked great for the stencils!

I'm very happy how it turned out...even though it was sooo incredibly hot during the parade! Smiley

That's awesome! Extra awesome points for it being a roller derby dress. I saw some leopard print duct tape at Target the other day and was really tempted to make something out of it, but without a parade I really have no good excuse. Tongue

Ohh! Great project to do! I love duck tape, but never get to find anything to use with! I like it when Mothers come into the rescue to help fix our mistakes and get to learn what mothers come up with!  Cheesy Sometime I have to hit up the Minnesota RollerGirls and watch it!

I am up for private swap for Teesha Moore patches!! PM me if  you are interested! :-D

Freaking Sweet! I love the whole thing, but those stencils add a whole other level of awesomeness to the ensemble *hits "this rocks"*
