I'm slowly teaching my young daughters to sew, and am always trying to think up simple projects for them to try.
This is what I've come up with today - a simple camera case with a photo tutorial for them to follow themselves!  They've seen mine - and I can't wait for them to try one for themselves!

If anyone is interested the tutorial is here - I'd love any feedback - and any more ideas of simple projects for kids to practice their sewing with!

Cute!  I wish I had paid more attention to my mom's sewing when I was younger!  Undecided

I think it's great your teaching your kids. Mine didn't seem to want to learn any crafting. Your camera case looks great!! Cheesy Some Ideas for them to do, maybe old ties, use the the point end to make a little pouch with the point as the fold over, make one or more pockets.  Wink  Out of fabric make a Artsy clutch,  2 6"x6" or bigger & you can line it.  This is a Single.  Sew up 2 sides, fold top part down 1/4" sew all around it & put Elastic like a hair band or bias tape sewn together to make a loop in middle. Then fold the whole top down (iron if you can) maybe 1/3" Put a button there in the middle so matches up with the elastic. Really cute clutches. Hope it makes sense.  Smiley Another thing is use felt you can make a lot of things & you don't have to finish the edges. Or make some sufties just about out of anything, T-shirts, socks etc. Have fun!!
They are called Artsy clutches. These are on craftsters. Cheesy

These are Easy Peasy Wallets I made from that pattern on craftsters. Cheesy

Will do personal swaps!! I make Art Dolls/Junker Jane Dolls/Raggedy Ann & Andy Dolls/also TM Patches

great tutorial!

How about making a re-usable grocery bag? Here are some links, you can make a simple bag out of a pillowcase or t-shirt.

Great idea Jill - get the kids busy by sewing, they'll prob love it. I'm sure you come across a ton of easy stuff they can do w/all your searches.
