Hello everyone,
I just moved to Portland from Boston, MA!
As a going away present my grandmother gave me her grandmothers sewing machine!! It's so beautiful but it needs to be serviced.  If anyone knows a place they trust I would really appreciate it.
(I also started a quilt for my friends wedding that I need to finnish the edges.  The wedding is November 11th!!!!!!!! I gave away my working machine to a friend in Boston.  I only had room for one in the move)
thanks for your help =)

What part of Portland are you in and how far would you want to drive?

The only one I've used is http://www.sewingcenterwest.com/ and they have a printable coupon online. They are in Beaverton right off of 217
I used them years ago. they always have coupons in the Oregonian.

There is the Fabric Depot in SE Portland http://www.fabricdepot.com/ may have some suggestions
You could also call someone at Montavilla if they don't offer it bet they will have some suggestions http://www.montavillasewing.com/locations.html

or Try calling the nearest Joann's to you. I've been to one in Beaverton and they had a sign in their window for Machine repairs. I've never used them.

that's all I got.... Good luck ~K
oh and if you do find one post about your experience. I might need to tune mine up soon.

Do NOT go to montavilla. NEVER EVER EVER. I bought my machine here and they treat me like dirt when I go in for service. I've never heard a nice thing about them from anyone else. I always get the feeling like they'd rather I not be in their stores because I'm so much younger than their average consumer.

I DO however wholeheartedly recommend the SAVE store (aka the Sewing and Vacuum Emporium). Its at:

6701 SE Foster Rd

Robbie, the manager, is a younger guy and super-knowledgable about what he does. His level of customer service is superb. I bought a serger from him last year, and am considering buying another machine from him in the future.

and they totally work on old machines

yes please! I'd love to swap ATC's with you.
