I have this issue with my hands and hot things.  They like each other a lot.  I probably burn myself on average of five times a week, so I figured it was time to fight back.  I made a crapload (I believe that is a metric measurement) of t-shirt yarn and made these potholders.  Take that, hot stuff!

The heart was actually trickier than I thought it would be getting it to actually look like an anatomic heart, but it worked out in the end.  PHEW.  The pattern (and the t-shirt yarn tutorial) are available on wonderstrange!  (scroll down for the pdf download of the pattern)

Thanks for checkin' out my parts! Wink

These are so cool.  The heart is magnificent, the trickiness totally paid off.  I want to go to a thrift store right now and get some t-shirts for yarn-making.

Thank you!!  Cheesy

Maria, your tutorial is fantastic.  I really like the clip idea and the double fold.  Way less cutting!

Slothmuffin (great name), I hope you do!  They're super thick, and I haven't burned myself yet!

Here is a post from the Earth Day Recycle Contest for Friends of Crafster. Maybe you will enjoy these patterns, too:

I love using the T-Shirt yarn but was frustrated in cutting up the shirt. This method quickly makes yards and yards of yarn that can easily be made into great projects like a tote or basket. I've seen this yarn selling on-line for $7.00! Now you can make your own for free!

Meshell, Ha! Thanks!  The idea of showing tshirts how to put condoms on bananas was deliciously absurd. hahaha!
