so one of my favorite things to do is to buy old/ugly/poorly painted/unwanted ceramics and figurines from thrift shops and whatnot and give them a new coat of paint and a new lease on life! here's a holy family i did....

I love that they are skeletons but Joseph still has a big bushy beard. It adds to the quirkyness of the paint job. =)

I'm only guessing, but I bet that was a pretty massive improvement over the original paintjob.

Great work!

SUPER FRIGGIN DUPER! Totally loving this! Would you mind sharing the kind of paint you used? I repurposed some cherubs I found to look like zombies for my daughters room, but the paint never held up Sad

These are really really awesome. It's right up my alley. I always see those blank figures and I always make plans to paint them, but I've never quite gotten to it. Wonderful job.

thanks you guys! if you like these, go check out the upcycled vintage dod glamour doll i made for a swap. she's bookmarked on my profile under favorite things i've done. i've been buying a bunch of these up and am going to start painting a bunch to sell at tattoo conventions... =)

sorry, lolli, i guess this question flew under my radar when you posted it... i just used plain walmart style acrylic paint on them - but they had a porous finish. if you're trying to paint something plastic or glazed i'd try some kind of enamel paint or maybe cruise the model building section at your local hobby store...
