I really want to start organizing swaps, and I know I have to co-organize one first.  But I don't know how to get over that hump.  So anyone need/want a co-organizer?  Any advice?

I don't think you have to co-organize a swap before becoming an organizer.  From the rules:

01. You must be at least 18 years old.
02. You must not have any Negative Feedback.
03. You must have completed at least two swaps and have Positive Feedback for both.
04. If it is your first time organizing, you may only organize ONE swap. After you have completed your organizing duties for that swap, you may organize and/or co-organize up to THREE swaps at once.
05. If the number of participants exceeds 25 members, you must either recruit a co-organizer or contact a swap mod and arrange to send them a copy of your records.

You don't have to, but I found it helpful to have been a co-organiser once before diving in. Smiley

If you decide to go for it and just organise a swap anyway I'd stick to something small the first time. For my first swap that I organised on my own I limited the slots to 15 + me. That's 8 pairs... I can do that! But I want to try to pair people up so that they really enjoy crafting for each other, and not just according to country and allergies, so it takes time for me to get all pairs working.

It also helped me to be familiar to the swap type I organised (was co-organiser for the same swap) so I knew what went really well last time and what I wanted to change/add to make things run smoother. If you've been in a few swaps you probably know what makes it easier for you as a swapper and what kind of organising you like. Some like lots of communication, some likes to be left alone. I outlined the kind of communication I wanted from my participants to make sure we were on the same page.

If you want to co-organise I'd personally ask the organiser of a swap you'll be joining anyway. Unless it's a tiny swap I think they'll be grateful for the help.
