I am just finishing my 1st craftster swap and my children really got into it (twilight scavenger hunt, but i used to swap alot on a polymer clay board) . My almost-10 yr old son said he would love to do a kids Harry Potter swap and I said I would see if that's possible.

I saw the "must be 16+" rule but this would be for parent/adult-craftster-member to do with child. The adult would be responsible, handle shipping, get the feedback etc, but all the crafts would be kid-appropriate and the children can get in on the act. My son immediately came up with such clever craft ideas that I would LOVE to get something like this going. the quetion form would include the child's interests, shirt size, etc but still keep the child anonymous for safety's sake, it would still all be through the Craftster member's name/account. Has it been done?? He suggested we do this in early summer once school ends. I would like to try it with a small group, maybe 10 swappers.

This sounds like an awesome idea! My 8yo daughter loves crafting with me for others, and HP!

Hope it gets some interest x

There have been a few kid crafty swaps.

Kids Craft and Swap Round 3
Kids Can Craft TOO!
Kids Craft and Swap

I believe as long as there is a qualified craftster member signing up for the swap, it is a-okay for the kiddos to craft in a swap.  (The qualified craftster is responsible for making sure the package is sent on time, communication, and such.  And of course kiddos should craft in designated kid swaps.)

Hope that helps! Grin

This is a really wonderful idea. I know my kids would love to get involved.

On a sidenote, there is a local pottery place that is doing a week long Harry Potter summer day camp. I've been thinking about getting my boys involved. Each day they make a new item: a clay wand, painted ceramic train, a pet owl, and so forth.

Yup, I did the kids and craft 2 swap with my daughter...yikes, two years ago now.  The craftster member is responsible for the craft requirements (with the child doing the crafting) and would receive the appropriate feedback.  Ideally, the child gets matched up with someone close in age.  I was thinking of organizing an older kids swap sometime soon.  My dd would love to do another one.  Maybe 10 to 16 yr olds (tween/teen swap).

Looking for a vintage magazine (1974 - 1978) that has a fabric nativity set w/ people and animals. An example: http://www.craftster.org/pictures/showphoto.php?photo=440861&ppuser=143144.

DS has helped me with swaps in the past, but never actually been the main crafter.
He likes to get involved, so simple projects can include him. If he can't use his artistic abilities, then I let him help me set up/clean up, shop for supplies, plan, etc...

BUT a kids-only swap would be cool....maybe when he's older lol
